Former Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) senior staffer Jeff Rothblum has landed a new cyber leadership position at the White House.
Rothblum announced on his LinkedIn last week that after five years of leading HSGAC Chairman Gary Peters’, D-Mich., cybersecurity and technology security portfolio, he has started a new job as the director of cyber policy and plans in the Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD).
“My 5 years working for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee have been incredible,” Rothblum wrote on LinkedIn on Jan. 19. “It’s been an honor to work for Chairman Gary Peters, leading his cybersecurity and technology security portfolio, planning hearings, drafting and passing legislation, and supporting his policy goals.”
“The HSGAC team is outstanding and I’ve been lucky to work with such great people, and make so many wonderful friends,” he continued. “I’m excited this year, to take my next step and work on different challenges by joining the Office of the National Cyber Director within the Executive Office of the President.”
“I can’t wait to continue working to improve national cybersecurity from a new vantage point, and join a new(ish) team of incredibly talented people,” Rothblum wrote.
Before coming to the Senate committee in 2019, Rothblum worked at MITRE, Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing.
Chris DeRusha, the White House’s Federal chief information security officer and the deputy national cyber director, commented on Rothblum’s job announcement on LinkedIn, “[S]o excited to have you on the team! And congratulations on your five years at HSGAC as one of the leading voices and advocates for cyber on the Hill. Can’t wait to see what you do in the executive branch.”
