The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) named Matt Hartman the deputy executive assistant director of cybersecurity at the agency this month, confirmed by Hartman’s LinkedIn profile.
Hartman had previously served as the acting executive director of cybersecurity at CISA and has been at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in one cyber role or another for over the past decade.
Hartman has been at CISA since its establishment in late 2018, starting as the acting director of Federal Network Resilience at the agency. He went on to hold the titles of deputy assistant director at the agency, as well as associate director and assistant director for the agency’s cybersecurity division.
Earlier this month, Hartman spoke in a joint advisory with the FBI and Department of Treasury letting the public know of a North Korean cryptocurrency scheme that had been taking place since 2018. He also played a hand in the release of CISA’s draft version of its Trusted Internet Connections Use Case for remote users last December.
Hartman’s new position will likely facilitate some shuffling of the organizational structure in the cybersecurity division, as Hartman becomes deputy executive assistant in the group, linking his post to Executive Assistant Director of Cybersecurity Eric Goldstein.
