CSRA Adds to Biowulf Supercomputing Cluster

CSRA announced Aug. 2 that it has installed a second increment to the Biowulf supercomputing cluster at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Information Technology. Biowulf is designed to process a large number of simultaneous computations that are typical in genomics, image processing, statistical analysis, and other biomedical research areas. “We are proud to report the next stage of supercomputing power for Biowulf at NIH,” said Vice President Kamal Narang, head of CSRA’s Federal Health Group. “CSRA’s world-renowned HPC experts partnered with NIH to make this advancement possible. Entering this new stage, NIH researchers have expanded computing power to discover new cures and save lives.”

Pure Storage Moves Up in Leaders Quadrant

Pure Storage announced Aug. 2 that it has improved its position within the Leaders Quadrant of the Gartner July 2017 Magic Quadrant for Solid State Arrays (SSAs). For the fourth consecutive year, Pure Storage is positioned furthest along the “Completeness of Vision” axis in the Leaders Quadrant. “Cisco and Pure Storage continue to drive innovation that delivers a unique combination of performance, simplicity, and efficiency for data center infrastructure,” said Nirav Sheth, vice president of worldwide partner sales at Cisco. “Our joint FlashStack converged infrastructure solution enables IT organizations to easily scale with business requirements, accelerate automation and quickly deploy a foundation for hybrid cloud solutions.”

AVST and collab9 Announce Partnership

Applied Voice & Speech Technologies (AVST) announced its collaboration with FedRAMP-certified Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) provider collab9 to provide cloud-based unified communications (UC) to Federal, state, and local governments. “AVST is very excited to partner with collab9 to include CX-E as part of the collab9 secure UCaaS offering,” said Tom Minifie, AVST CTO. “Combining our expertise in UC interoperability with collab9’s expertise in secure, hosted solutions, uniquely qualifies us to offer the ideal UCaaS solution for Federal, state and local government organizations.”
