In a blog post for the General Services Administration (GSA), Commissioner at GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Sonny Hashmi outlined FAS’ commitment to progressing reform initiatives, administrative priorities, pandemic support, and data management.
On the data front, Hashmi detailed how GSA is working to streamline and improve data management associated with over 50 million products and services offered through the Federal marketplace.
Updates to this process include:
- The development of the Authoritative Catalog Repository (ACR) to improve catalog load times for suppliers;
- Pre-solicitation for the Common Catalog Platform (CCP), to reduce the amount of time suppliers spend managing catalogs and make it easier to review and approve catalogs for the FAS workforce, planned for Spring 2021; and
- Continuing the onboarding of additional manufacturers to the Verified Products Portal (VPP).
Hashmi also wrote about GSA’s COVID-19 pandemic response as co-chair for the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force and as a supplier to secure the supply chain of COVID-19 related products and services.
“We are also looking at how we support economic recovery and growth. This means reviewing agency policy and procedures, examining supplier scouting partnerships, supporting updates to the Federal Acquisition Regulations, and providing transparency around data with Made in America laws,” wrote Hashmi. “And we’ll continue working to reduce barriers to doing business with the government, and improving access to opportunities for qualified suppliers, especially those from historically under-served communities.”
