The Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a joint statement Monday night stating that none of the organizations had seen any compromises that would threaten midterm election voting. However, the statement did warn of campaigns aimed at the public. “Americans should be aware that foreign actors–and Russia in particular–continue to try to influence public sentiment and voter perceptions through actions intended to sow discord,” said the joint statement. “The American public can mitigate these efforts by remaining informed, reporting suspicious activity, and being vigilant consumers of information.” The statement advises people to get election information from state and local elections offices, and examine sources before sharing election-related information.
