The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced today that it has hired Jamie Susskind as its new vice president of policy and regulatory affairs. Susskind joins the CTA from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) where she served as chief of staff to Commissioner Brendan Carr. During her time as chief of staff, Susskind focused on wireline and consumer protection issues. In her new role, she will “provide expertise on industry priorities such as accessibility, consumer privacy and high-speed broadband,” according to a CTA press release. “We’re fortunate to have Jamie join CTA during such a transitional time for wireless connectivity, as we move deeper into 5G – the platform technology for self-driving vehicles, smart cities and other game-changing innovations,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “The FCC has a paramount role in helping our nation lead the world in 5G development, and Jamie knows the intricacies of the commission’s work especially well.”
