President-Elect Joe Biden has announced two key nominations to help run the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), tapping Shalanda Young as the nominee for the Deputy Director of OMB, and Jason Miller as the nominee for Deputy Director for Management at OMB.
“These dedicated and distinguished leaders will bring the highest level of experience, integrity, and knowledge to bear on behalf of the American people,” said President-elect Biden. “Each of them brings a deep respect for the civil servants who keep our republic running, as well as a keen understanding of how the government can and should work for all Americans.”
Currently, Young serves as Staff Director and clerk for the House Appropriations Committee and has over 14 years of combined experience in various roles with the committee. Her position as Staff Director saw her overseeing $1.4 trillion in annual Federal funding for programs ranging from children and families, to infrastructure and defense, and playing a key role in shaping coronavirus relief legislation.
Miller currently leads the Agency Review Team for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) for the Biden-Harris Transition team, and served as the Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council in the Obama-Biden White House. During his tenure with the Obama-Biden administration, Miller led initiatives to create jobs and was the White House lead for manufacturing policy by creating the ManufacturingUSA program and its 16 institutes.

President-elect Biden in November nominated Neera Tanden to serve as Director of OMB. Tanden is the current president of the Center for American Progress, a Washington D.C.-based think tank.
