Jeff Bezos is stepping down as Amazon’s chief executive officer, and will transition to the executive chairman role in the third quarter of 2021. Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services, will take over as the chief executive of Amazon at that time. Jassy first joined Amazon in 1997 and built the company’s cloud computing services business. “When you look at our financial results, what you’re actually seeing are the long-run cumulative results of invention,” Bezos, Amazon’s founder, said in a statement. “Right now I see Amazon at its most inventive ever, making it an optimal time for this transition.”
