The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) today announced the launch of its Ideation Challenge that aims to inform the next iteration of the program’s processes and supporting functions.

“Over the last couple years in my role as the evangelist and now as the FedRAMP Director, I understand there are challenges and we want to address them,” Acting FedRAMP Director Ashley Mahan said at the Federal Cloud Marketplace Forum organized by Carahsoft and ATARC. She said the challenge will help FedRAMP to better understand customer needs.

Participants in the challenge are asked to submit bold, innovative, and actionable ideas that offer new process perspectives for FedRAMP.

Anil Cheriyan, Deputy Commissioner at the General Services Administration and Director of its Technology Transformation Services organization, framed the challenge as a way to gain input on making the FedRAMP process easier, faster, and more streamlined, while also seeking input on automation and other technologies.

“[FedRAMP] strives to continuously improve how we support our customers,” the Iteration Challenge website states. “In an effort to enhance and evolve our program, the FedRAMP Program Management Office (PMO) seeks to leverage the power and insights of the cybersecurity community.”

The Ideation Challenge is open to the public and runs through August 22.
