The General Services Administration (GSA) announced on Monday that a new electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) product, provided by Atom Power, has achieved authorization under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
The 12-year-old FedRAMP program is administered by GSA and provides a standardized, government-wide approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services used by Federal government agencies.
The FedRAMP authorization gives assurance to Federal agency partners that Atom Power’s EV charging infrastructure platform “has had its security capabilities reviewed and assessed through the FedRAMP process,” GSA said in a press release.
The authorization comes after GSA announced two other EVSE FedRAMP authorizations in January for Chargie and Chargepoint. GSA said it is working to authorize more EVSE products over the next year.
“It’s great to see another example of the EVSE industry responding to the growing Federal demand for EV charging stations,” said GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan. “We look forward to helping more American businesses to grow and thrive in the Federal marketplace by supporting the sustainability of the Federal footprint.”
Last week, GSA also announced a $25 million investment in EV charging ports at Federal buildings across the nation as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.
“GSA is responsible for establishing governmentwide vehicle contracts and leasing half of the non-postal Federal fleet, while the other half is ordered from GSA – including a growing number of electric vehicles,” the agency explained in the April 1 press release. “In FY 2023, GSA ordered over 5,800 zero-emission vehicles – an increase of 63 percent from FY 2022.”
“In the first quarter of FY2024, GSA ordered 4,000 more ZEVs – accounting for 20 percent of all orders and almost 30 percent of all light-duty vehicle orders,” it added. “These orders will help meet the Federal government’s goal of 100 percent zero-emission vehicle acquisitions by 2035, including 100 percent of light-duty acquisitions by 2027.”
