Veritas and Microsoft announced a partnership to help companies better manage their data in the cloud by using Veritas’ Enterprise Vault.cloud management and governance service on Microsoft Azure.
Veritas said the partnership will help government agencies because agencies can use this service to migrate to the cloud and get the best business value from the cloud.
“Customers want and need to move to the cloud,” said Dayna Fried, a spokeswoman for Veritas.
Some government agencies are stuck spending the majority of their IT funding on maintaining legacy systems. This new partnership could help agencies decide what data can be moved to the cloud, allowing them to get rid of unnecessary data centers.
Government agencies are already using Veritas’ data management service to visualize their data, according to Carleton Bowen, cloud business development manager for Veritas’ U.S. Public Sector and Federal Business.
“They’re able to quickly have the ability to see what their data is doing on any platform,” said Bowen.
Government agencies will be able to use analytics and machine learning to ensure they scale their cloud services according to the amount of data they need to use and store.
“Enterprises increasingly rely on cloud computing to advance digital transformation,” said Mike Palmer, executive vice president and chief product officer at Veritas.
Veritas’ data backup application and data protection service also supports Microsoft Azure, which will improve data life cycle management, optimize the movement of data, and lower costs. Veritas also uses Azure as its own cloud back-end service for its data management system. Veritas’ data management system also helps Microsoft Office 365 subscribers find archived information when they need it.
Veritas’ partnership with Microsoft will span multiple years, serve global customers, and allow the two companies to collaborate on the development of new technologies, according to Fried.
“Microsoft and Veritas customers have enjoyed the benefits of highly complementary technology offerings, focused on solving IT challenges in the data center,” said Jason Zander, corporate vice president of the Microsoft Azure team. “Our strengthened partnership delivers deeper integration, allowing customers to more easily take advantage of the flexibility and enterprise-grade reliability that Azure provides.
Earlier this month, Veritas announced a technology alliance with Amazon Web Services to deliver Veritas 360 Data Management capabilities to organizations that use AWS infrastructure, which will accelerate cloud adoption and improve the management of data across cloud environments.
“These partnerships are helpful to us because it’s helping us solve some of the big problems in cloud,” said Fried.
