The American Council for Technology & Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) plans to send Federal Chief Information Officer Tony Scott a list of recommendations to improve government cybersecurity.
The group’s recommendations will address:
• Cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Business-initiated vulnerabilities.
• Faster responses following a breach.
• Adopting a proactive defense against threats.
• Sharing threat intelligence.
• Solving the cyber talent search.
• Risk management and the role of executives.
• Building effective security into acquisitions.
“ACT-IAC wants to provide these recommendations because Federal agencies’ systems are under continuous attack and improving Federal agencies’ cybersecurity is essential to enable their continued use of technology to effectively fulfill their missions and deliver services to citizens while simultaneously securing their data and privacy,” said Mike Howell, senior director, Institute for Innovation and Special Projects.
“ACT-IAC’s government and industry members have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer and a strong ethic of helping improve government through information technology,” he said.
ACT-IAC plans to submit its recommendations within the next two weeks.
