The Senate on Oct. 26 confirmed Maj. Gen. Robert J. Skinner as the next head of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Gen. Skinner – who will also be receiving a promotion to lieutenant general – currently oversees command, control, communications, and cyber operations for U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Hawaii. Skinner was nominated for the position back in September and is returning to DISA where he served as the organization’s chief of staff from Sept. 2014 to March 2015. As DISA director, Skinner will be responsible for leading more than 8,000 military and civilian personnel who “plan, develop, deliver, and operate joint, interoperable command-and-control capabilities.”
