The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) awarded Salient CRGT a task order with a two-year contract for roughly $1.44 million to provide the agency with Master Data Management (MDM) and Enterprise Data Exchange services, according to a Salient press release. NRC has charged the IT firm with reducing the agency’s reliance on manual labor and widening its use of existing technology through agile methodology.

“The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has the incredible responsibility of ensuring human safety,” says Mark Colturi, Salient CRGT Senior Vice President in a press release. “We are honored to be part of making the NRC’s mission a reality to become more efficient and more effective in delivery data for their users.”

The NRC licenses and regulates civilian use of “commercial reactors, nuclear materials, and waste transportation and storage.”

Maureen Conley, NRC public affairs officer, said in an email interview, “This project utilizes a private cloud, not a FedRamp compliant service.”

In addressing the idea of moving future projects to cloud computing, Conley added: “We continue to look at the implications of making that shift but do not yet have a schedule for moving forward.”
