The National Institutes of Health IT Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC) is looking to extend the Chief Information Officer–Solutions and Partners 3 (CIO-SP3) contract – which helps provide IT solutions and services across the government – for another six months according to an agency official.
Brian Goodger, director of the NITAAC, discussed the contract extension during the WEST 2024 conference – cosponsored by AFCEA and the U.S. Naval Institute – on Feb. 13.
“The justification for approval to continue the contract still needs a final sign off,” said Goodger. “If you are on the CIO-SP3 contract vehicle, once the extension is approved, it will run through the entire fiscal year.” The government’s fiscal year 2024 ends on Sept. 30.
Goodger talked about the need for the extensions due to protests that are holding back the new CIO-SP4 governmentwide acquisition contract (GWAC).
“Those six are represented by the same one or two law firms. This Friday we will find out which judge is appointed by the COFC,” Goodger said.
“That is important because some judges tend to side with the government and others tend to side with industry so we may be able to discern where this latest set of protests are going,” added Goodger.
In July 2023, NITAAC extended the CIO-SP3 contract through April 19, 2024, citing protests over the CIO-SP4 contract and the need to take corrective actions and reevaluate proposals. CIO-SP4 is designed to deliver IT solutions and services in an infinite-delivery and infinite-quality contract, with a ceiling of $50 billion and a five-year option.
