The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has awarded 10 vendors a spot on a $290 million contract to supply national security customers with advanced unclassified commercial geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) derived computer vision capabilities, data, and analytic services.
The Luna A Commercial Data Contract aims to broaden data and service access for the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG), speed up the modernization of analytic workflows, and integrate these resources into enterprise capabilities. Additionally, Luna A will provide data that enhances NGA and NSG analysts’ ability to contextualize assessments and gain unique insights into global economic, environmental, and military activities.
“The contract will leverage industry’s commercial computer vision and artificial intelligence capabilities to augment existing capabilities and will integrate directly into analytic workflows for operational use,” NGA said in a statement on Friday.
At the beginning of the year, NGA issued a solicitation for the Luno A contract, which is a follow-up to NGA’s Economic Indicator Monitoring (EIM) contract that focused on managing the deluge of data by purchasing commercial data as services to integrate with NGA machine learning and artificial intelligence efforts.
“Because of the incredible success with the EIM contract, we’ve substantially increased our financial commitment to commercial capabilities with Luno A,” Devin Brande, director of NGA Commercial Operations, said in a press release.
“As the quantity and quality of commercial data continues to increase, we must continue to partner effectively with industry to keep pace with state-of-the-art analytic capabilities and meet the increasing demands of our customers,” Brande said.
Luna A has a five-year base ordering period with a $290 million ceiling. The contract extends through Sept. 11, 2029.
The vendors – Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, BlackSky Geospatial Solutions, BlueHalo, Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI International, Electromagnetic Systems, Maxar Intelligence, NV5 Geospatial, Royce Geospatial Consultants, and Ursa Space Systems – will compete on a full and open basis for future delivery orders.
