Department of the Navy (DON) CIO Rob Foster will be leaving his role this month to become Deputy CIO at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a Navy spokesman confirmed.
Foster began his role as DON CIO in June 2015, in which he developed strategies, policies, plans, standards, and guidance; implemented a secure and integrated DON enterprise architecture; and provided transformation support for the entire DON.
Foster served 21 years in the Navy before retiring from active service in 2007, after which he worked as Deputy Chief Information Officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Deputy CIO for the Department of Health and Human Services.
The Navy spokesman confirmed that Foster will be leaving on Aug. 19, and “will be responsible for delivery of IT services” in his new role at NCUA.
According to the NCUA website, their mission “is to provide, through regulation and supervision, a safe and sound credit union system, which promotes confidence in the national system of cooperative credit.”
At the time of publication, the DON had not yet made a decision on who will be acting CIO, the spokesman confirmed.
