NASA has released the final solicitation for its enterprise IT contract – Advanced Enterprise Global Information Technology IT Solutions (AEGIS) – and is encouraging organizations to make proposals to support tech operations at the agency.
The AEGIS solicitation, released September 25, is an opportunity to support NASA’s communications program, computing services program, and cybersecurity and privacy program. Through the contract, AEGIS, is “advancing NASA’s information technology capabilities while protecting the infrastructure and data and resources,” NASA Contracting Officer Michelle Berdux wrote. The contract has a total potential lifespan of 10 years, with an anticipated award date in May 2021.
While the new AEGIS opportunity is largely in line with previous NASA IT efforts, the contract is a follow-on to the agency’s Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract. According to the request for proposals, the work under the AEGIS contract will include expanded technologies, new technical areas such as zero trust, and securing data centers and cloud services to support IT operational compliance.
NASA tapped Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) to lead the original NICS solution that is set to expire next year. The agency released a request for information for “NICS 2.0” in December 2019, showing an interest in a zero trust approach to its communications services.
The request for proposals does not reveal the anticipated award amount for the AEGIS project, but it will be awarded in a combination of firm fixed price, cost plus award fee, and indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contracts.
NASA is holding a virtual pre-proposal conference about the AEGIS contract on September 30. Responses to the solicitation are due on October 30.
