NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) has appointed Nicholas Skytland as its new chief technologist and director of the Business Development and Technology Integration Office.

According to his LinkedIn, Skytland “is focused on helping NASA return to the Moon through technology development, technology transfer, strategic partnerships, and open innovation.”

Skytland has over 22 years of experience at NASA. Most recently, he served as the chief of JSC’s Exploration Technology Office from December 2019 to July 2022.

He has served in a variety of other roles at NASA, including agency talent and technology strategist for the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer; data scientist and evangelist for the Office of the Chief Information Officer; and program manager of the Open Innovation Program.

Since 2008, Skytland has also served as a co-founder and partner of the strategy and technology firm Quite Uncommon.
