Army Lieutenant General Paul Nakasone is taking over this afternoon as chief of U.S. Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency. At the same time, U.S. Cyber Command is being elevated to the level of a full unified military command, the Defense Department said today.
Nakasone comes to his new positions with a deep history in the military intelligence community. He most recently served as the commanding general for the Army Cyber Command, and before that was commander of the Cyber National Mission Force at U.S. Cyber Command. He succeeds Admiral Mike Rogers, who is retiring after holding the post for four years.
