Maria Persaud-Thompson is starting a new job as chief information officer (CIO) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), according to her LinkedIn account.
“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Chief Information Officer at HHS Office of Inspector General,” said Persaud-Thompson in a LinkedIn post last week.
As the new CIO, Persaud-Thompson will oversee IT operations and cybersecurity measures within the office of the OIG.
Prior to the new appointment, Persaud-Thompson worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for over 14 years in various roles, including director and technology solutions branch chief in the CDC’s digital services office.
She holds a business degree from Morgan State University and has a certificate in driving government performance from Harvard University.
