Keith DeVries has been appointed as director of the Defense Department’s (DoD) Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) program, which operates under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OSD) for Research and Engineering, the DoD announced on Oct. 9.

DeVries will lead efforts to accelerate the adoption of innovative manufacturing technologies, which are vital to maintaining national security and economic resilience.

According to the department, his expertise and leadership will be “instrumental as the DoD continues to push the boundaries of manufacturing technology, ensuring that the U.S. military remains at the forefront of technological advancement.”

Most recently, DeVries served as the deputy director of DoD ManTech, where he oversaw targeted investments in key technology areas including hypersonics and sustainment technologies.

As deputy, DeVries coordinated closely with Manufacturing Innovation Institutes and Manufacturing Education and Workforce Development programs to enhance access to emerging technologies and prepare the next generation workforce in advanced manufacturing.

DeVries also managed the Manufacturing Science and Technology Program (MSTP) within OSD ManTech, which seeks to advance the DoD’s modernization priorities and reduce acquisition and sustainment costs for both current and next-generation technologies.

DeVries also held several positions within the Power & Energy and Radar Technologies Divisions of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane, including overall systems engineer for microwave devices, project manager for business unit workload, in-service engineering agent for submarine main storage batteries, and branch manager.
