Intel to Acquire Movidius

Intel announced Sept. 6 that it will acquire Movidius, a company that specializes in low-power, high-performance SoC platforms for accelerating computer vision applications; algorithms tuned for deep learning, depth processing, navigation and mapping, and natural interactions; and broad expertise in embedded computer vision and machine intelligence. With the combined skills of the companies, Intel said it will excel in giving computers the ability to see, which will improve devices such as drones, robots, and virtual reality gear. Tetra Tech Gets NOAA Contract

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced Sept. 6 that it awarded Tetra Tech a $49 million contract to support the Office for Coastal Management’s (OCM) Digital Coast program. Tetra Tech will offer geospatial services to the areas that NOAA monitors, which include the United States, American Samoa, and the Virgin Islands.
