The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP) will host an industry day on Dec. 5 in Menlo Park, Calif.
Representatives from technology startups and investors will be able to find new research and development opportunities relating to cybersecurity defenses for the nation’s financial services sector critical infrastructure. SVIP offers funding to fledgling startups that specialize in technology used for homeland security purposes.
Organizations will also be able to learn about the SVIP program’s Innovation Other Transaction Solicitations (Innovation OTS) funding mechanism. DHS uses OTS framework, which was launched last December, to engage non-government contractors, such as startup companies. Through OTS funding, participating companies can learn more about opportunities for creating homeland security solutions within the agency.
“It also will enable tech professionals from Silicon Valley and other innovation hubs around the country to engage with members of DHS S&T and familiarize themselves with the technological needs of DHS and operators of the nation’s critical infrastructure,” stated a press release on DHS S&T’s website.
