The Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency launched a website on Oct. 2 that will house all IG reports.
Before Oversight.gov was created, the IGs of each agency posted their reports on their own sites.
“It’s my pleasure to welcome you today to Oversight.gov, a new website that consolidates in one place public reports from Federal Inspectors General, who serve as agency watchdogs across the Federal government,” said Michael Horowitz, IG for the Department of Justice. “Each year, Federal Inspectors General Identify billions of dollars in potential taxpayer savings, conduct investigations that promote accountability, and make thousands of recommendations to improve government operations.”
The reports on Oversight.gov are all text searchable. Users can also find reports by state using the map of the United States on the home page. The IGs also have a new Twitter handle, @OversightGov, where they’ve begun posting reports.
“I’m proud of this initiative because it makes the work of the IG community more accessible and transparent,” Horowitz said.
