The General Services Administration is going on the hunt for a permanent director to lead its effort and oversee deployment of the $187 million Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) award GSA got for the project last year.

While the application process is not yet open, GSA has begun casting its net looking for a new program lead to grow the size and scope of the project, which the posting says is “dramatically looking to scale adoption in the next year.”

The Director will also be tasked with providing strategic direction for the project and be involved government-wide in identity strategy conversations. “It is expected that the Director will serve as a subject matter expert on the topics of digital identity, cybersecurity, and accessibility, and be a vocal, public advocate for the program and the benefits of adopting,” the job posting says.

Currently, the program is being led by Amos Stone, a co-founding team member of the GSA’s 18F digital service delivery team. He’s held the role since August 2019 and would be expected to lead the team for approximately another 102 to 134 days after the job posting goes live, according to Technology Transformation Services average hiring cycle timeline.

The role would be 100 percent virtual – but could also be done from GSA’s Washington, D.C., Chicago, or New York City offices – and is a GS-15 level posting. The salary range for the role is from $131,178 to $176,300 annually.
