Kelly Olson, chief of staff for the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Technology and Transformation Services (TTS) organization, will take over as acting director of TTS and Deputy Commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) beginning Monday, August 27.

The appointment was announced at an agency town hall meeting today.

Olson will take over the reins at TTS, and also as Deputy Commissioner of FAS, from Joanne Collins Smee, who is leaving GSA at the end of this month.

FAS is led by Commissioner Alan Thomas.  Kelly Olson and Mary Davie both report to Thomas.  The decision to place Olson, an experienced Federal IT and GSA executive, at the helm provides important continuity for TTS’ vision and operations.

The TTS portfolio includes: the 18F services company and product incubator; the Office of Acquisitions (18F Acquisitions); the Office of Investment (10x); IT Modernization Centers of Excellence; Presidential Innovation Fellowship; and the Office of Products and Programs, according to GSA’s website.

Prior to her role as TTS chief of staff, Olson was director of TTS’s Innovation Portfolio from 2015 to March of this year.
