The General Services Administration is taking its FedRAMP Program to cloud service providers, start-ups, and entrepreneurs in San Francisco on Sept. 25 to showcase opportunities to work with the program that speeds the authorization process to provide products and services in the Federal government’s $90 billion per year IT market.

The FedRAMP (Federal Risk and Authorization Management) Program provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. The process of obtaining authorizations under the program is a vital step to gaining access to the Federal IT services market.
From the outside looking in, the FedRAMP process can appear to be confusing, even daunting. But Anil Cheriyan, Director of GSA’s Technology Transformation Services organization and former CIO at SunTrust Banks, is looking to change that perception – and gather feedback – at the San Francisco event.
“My passion is transformation in government,” Cheriyan told MeriTalk. “We need to leverage the best tech start-ups and entrepreneurs in the country to take advantage of the opportunities that FedRAMP provides to speed products and services to the market.”
“Too often we hear the misperception that the FedRAMP process is too expensive and too complicated,” Cheriyan said. “We’re heading West later this month to dispel those notions, set the record straight, and demonstrate how efficiently the program functions as the gateway to the largest IT market in America.”
