As technology pundits think about the top trends to watch for in government technology in 2023, tech giant Google is betting that all transformation roadmaps will go through the cloud.
The company launched the Google Public Sector division earlier this year, which is focused on helping government agencies and educational institutions accelerate their digital transformation with Google’s modern cloud solutions. Google Cloud has more than 100 products authorized at FedRAMP High or FedRAMP Moderate to meet the growing needs of government technology leaders.
To explore use cases and real world applications of its technology, Google Public Sector is gathering government and industry leaders at its Government Summit taking place on Nov. 15, 2022, at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. This is Google’s third public sector summit, but the first to be held since the launch of its new division. Registration is still open for this event.
Session topics include cybersecurity, data analytics, collaboration, digital modernization, and more in five tracks: Collaboration & Culture; Mission-Driven Innovation; Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence (AI); Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Security & Resilience.
Speakers will share how technology, collaboration, and innovation are helping teams drive progress on issues that affect not only our country, but the world. They will discuss the path to project implementation along with critical lessons learned.
In the Advancing Climate Resilience, Sustainability, and Research with Data Analytics session, Duane Piper, CIO, South Florida Water Management District, shares how his agency is automating data management and processes to analyze billions of water samples collected through remote sensors. They are then tapping into that data using AI and machine learning tools to deliver insights about the earth’s changing climate.
There are several other sessions that will showcase how technology is advancing science, including panel discussions with leaders from the National Cancer Institute, NIH, VA, FEMA, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
Panel discussions help attendees gain insights from multiple technology experts. Other panel discussions include the How Can Hybrid and Multi Cloud Support Your Mission? discussion with Sharon Woods, director, hosting and compute center, DISA; Deborah Stephens, deputy CIO, USPTO, and Beth Killoran, deputy CIO, GSA.
To further explore the power of AI, Kevin Cornish, CIO, Covered California, shares how AI supported its mission to help small businesses research, compare, and acquire affordable health care coverage in the Using AI to Modernize Government Processes and Drive mission Outcomes session.
With the public sector heavily focused on cybersecurity in the wake of large scale breaches and Federal mandates, the Government Summit includes several sessions on implementing a zero trust architecture and building network resiliency. In the No Bad Days: Google Workspace as a Disaster Recovery Solution session, Robert Costello, CIO, DHS, and William Mendez, CISO, City of Miami, will discuss the need for cyber resiliency and how Google Workspace can keep operations running smoothly in case of breach.
