Google today announced its Google Workspace for Government product, a cloud-based system that aims to meet the needs of public sector customers by providing Google Cloud collaboration and communication tools to Federal customers. The service will become available early next year.
The company highlighted three key components of the product: pricing, flexibility, and compliance. The aim is to make the product available at different price points to meet specific needs and constraints of Federal customers.
“It’s a different sort of value equation and we understand that, and we’re also committed to supporting our customers in this move to digitize,” said Mike Daniels, VP of Global Public Sector Sales at Google Cloud, in a conference call with media. “So we took the specific needs and constraints of the public sector into consideration as we did this.”
In terms of flexibility, government customers can choose the services that best help them deliver mission goals, and Google Cloud provides price points so those customers can pick and choose which services they want to use.
“Governments can choose the offering that provides the services they need for the people that need them, using Google Workspace as the full suite or using just the services they want to complement their existing tools,” Google said in a press release.
Additionally, Google Workspace is designed to meet privacy and security standards to help organizations find the best package that meets their needs.
“We’ve all heard stories of security issues as it relates to video calls and those sorts of things, and compliance is always at the forefront of what we’re interested in and making sure we’re providing a very secure and robust [system] as it relates to compliance product to government,” Daniels said.
