The Federal Trade Commission has issued a warning about a new scam that targets men by claiming to know a personal secret about them and demanding a ransom in bitcoin. “Scammers have been sending letters to men, demanding payments using bitcoin in exchange for keeping quiet about alleged affairs,” the FTC said in a blog post. Criminals use the cryptocurrency to maintain anonymity. The FTC is encouraging potential victims and targets to contact local police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
