Former government officials from the United States and around the world joined with technology companies and non-profit organizations in a call to prioritize digital trust and security addressed to the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). In a letter to Volkan Bozkir, the Turkish diplomat and new UNGA president, the letter’s signatories called for a global statement on digital trust and security from the international organization as it commemorates its 75th year. “Prioritizing digital trust and security will provide more visibility and energy to the UN processes already underway aimed at advancing a rules-based digital order, including the Group of Governmental Experts in the Field of Information and Telecommunications and the Open-Ended Working Group,” the letter said.
