Federal CIO Suzette Kent met with members of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) today to discuss strengthening the partnerships between Federal and state governments.

In a statement, NASCIO President and Delaware CIO James Collins said, “we welcome the tremendous opportunity to engage with our Federal and strategic partners and appreciate the good discussions today. We look forward to continued and fruitful partnerships.”

Also in attendance at the meeting were representatives from the IRS Office of Safeguards, the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services, FirstNet, the National Governors Association, and GSA. In a release, NASCIO said its members advocated for “the advancement of NASCIO’s Federal advocacy priorities.” NASCIO’s advocacy priorites are:

  • Harmonize disparate Federal cybersecurity regulations and normalize the audit process;
  • Continue meaningful state CIO/CISO participation in FEMA’s Senior Advisory Committee and Urban Area Working Group; and
  • Recognize state authority and ongoing innovation with emerging technology.
