FBI CIO Gordon Bitko announced on LinkedIn that Oct. 11 was his last day with the agency and will be joining the Information Technology Industry (ITI) Council as senior vice president of policy.

“I will be watching closely as the FBI continues to accomplish great things, and know that the country is safer thanks to the hard work, and commitment to the mission, of the men and women of the world’s premier law enforcement organization,” Bitko said in his post. “It was an honor and privilege to serve among them.”

According to a press release by the global trade association, ITI, Bitko will be take over as the chief policy strategist for the IT industry in the Federal and private sector. He will also “focus on all public-sector policy matters, including Federal and state procurement rules and regulations, public sector supply chain risk management and security, Federal IT modernization, government acquisition and implementation of cybersecurity and other innovative products and services.”

“Gordon brings decades of experience and acumen in advancing technology and innovation in the private and public sectors,” ITI’s President and CEO Jason Oxman said. “From promoting IT modernization to implementing critically important procurement and supply chain security practices at a key Federal government agency, Gordon has had a front row seat navigating these complex policies, which are integral to every technology company.”
