The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named David Updike deputy chief information officer (CIO) and director of the agency’s Office of Information Technology Operations (OITO), according to his LinkedIn.

In this new role, Updike said he will “lead, establish strategic direction, and continuously improve over $240 million in enterprise IT services enabling EPA’s mission.”

Updike has served as deputy director of the OITO since April 2019. He has held a number of other roles at the EPA, including deputy director of the Office of Science Information Management, director and associate director of EPA’s National Computer Center, and IT operations team leader.

Updike will support EPA’s current CIO Vaughn Noga, who took on his role in 2018.
