Dustin Brown has been tapped to serve as chief operating officer (COO) and acting chief of staff for the Social Security Administration (SSA), according to a recent update on the SSA commissioner’s website.
As COO, Brown will work to oversee the daily business and operations of the SSA, and as chief of staff he will also support the agency’s staff to accomplish the SSA commissioner’s goals.
“I am pleased to announce that Dustin Brown will be transitioning from his detail from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to a permanent role with the agency as the Chief Operating Officer. He will also continue to serve as the Acting Chief of Staff,” said SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley. “Dustin has become an integral part of my leadership team, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise.”
Before joining SSA, Brown served as deputy assistant director for management at the OMB – found within the executive branch since 2007, according to his LinkedIn account.
Brown also has chaired the public governance committee at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since 2017.
