The Department of Energy on Sept. 11 issued a request for information that seeks nominees to serve on the recently created National Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee.
The White House established the advisory committee through an executive order issued on August 30. The committee will help direct Federal research and investments into quantum computing, and will advise Federal agencies tasked with implementing the National Quantum Initiative Act that becomes law in December 2018.
Under the White House order, the Energy Secretary may appoint to the committee up to 22 members from industry, academia, Federal laboratories, and other Federal entities.
The RFI published Sept. 11 seeks nominations by Oct. 4.
“The National Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee continues our efforts to leverage the full strength of America’s innovation ecosystem,” said Michael Kratsios, U.S. Chief Technology Officer and head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, in a statement. “We look forward to working with members of the committee to advance U.S. leadership in QIS.”
