The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) added four new companies to a multiple-award contract to provide satellite-based services and capabilities to the U.S. Space Force.

In two separate award announcements, DISA brought the total number of the Proliferated Low Earth Orbit (PLEO) Satellite-Based Services contract awardees to 20.

In the first round in July 2023 DISA selected 16 awardees to share in the potential 10-year, $900 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. In rounds two and three the agency announced four additional awardees.

Iridium Communications, Honeywell‘s aerospace business, AT&T, and Lynk Global were the companies selected and will support efforts to proliferate satellite communication services in low Earth orbit.

The contracts guarantee a $2,000 minimum to each contractor. The total cumulative face value is $900 million across a performance period from July 18, 2023, through July 2028, with one five-year option.

In the initial announcement of the PLEO Satellite-Based Services contracts, DISA stated that the contract marks a first for government satellite communication procurement.

According to DISA, the contracts ensure that the U.S. Space Force, the Department of Defense, and other Federal agencies and U.S. international partners produce “fully managed satellite-based services and capabilities for all domains – space, air, land, maritime and cyber – with a consistent, quality-backed, low-latency offering.”
