The Cybersecurity Tech Accord (CTA) announced May 9 that 16 new companies have signed on to the agreement, bringing the total to more than 106 signatories one year after its creation.
In a press release, CTA said that Access Smart, App Detex, Avepoint, CSC, Cyber Trust Alliance, Dogtown Media, Dynamic Consulting, ePrivacy, Hmatix, International Software Systems, LawToolBox, Netcom Learning, Reveal Data, US Licensing Group, US Medicalit, and WIPFLI joined the pledge to “protect users and customers everywhere.”
“Over the past year, the Cybersecurity Tech Accord signatories have supported numerous initiatives that increase the security of the online ecosystem and have actively participated in international discussions to promote peace and stability in cyberspace,” CTA said in a statement. “The group has endorsed the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace, as well as provided input to the UN’s High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation, and the Global Commission on Stability of Cyberspace.”
Launched at last year’s RSA Conference with 34 signatories, the Cybersecurity Tech Accord is an international industry-led pledge from technology and security companies. The Tech Accord also released a report in March touting successes in its first year and highlighting its commitment to its guiding principles. By signing on to the CTA, signatories agree to commitments in four key areas:
- “Stronger defense against cyberattacks by pledging to protect all customers globally regardless of the motivation for attacks online;
- No offense by choosing to not help governments or other actors launch cyberattacks against innocent civilians or enterprises, and protecting against the tampering or exploitation of products and services through every stage of technology development, design and distribution;
- Empowering developers and the people and businesses that use their technology, by helping them build and improve capacity for protecting themselves; and
- Building upon existing relationships and taking collective action together to establish new formal and informal partnerships with industry, civil society, and security researchers. The goal is to improve technical collaboration, coordinated vulnerability disclosure, and threat sharing, as well as to minimize the potential for malicious code to be introduced into cyberspace.”
CTA also offered a preview of priorities for its second year: “New initiatives will be launched throughout the course of 2019 focused on increasing cybersecurity awareness and identifying ways to keep our internet secure; promoting cybersecurity best practices and their adoption by businesses, governments and other entities; and partnering with like-minded organizations that are making similar investments and advocating for further action to protect our online environment.”
Other Cybersecurity Tech Accord signatories include Cisco, Dell, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Oracle, RSA, Salesforce, Tanium, and VMware.
