Keith Busby has been tapped as the new deputy chief information security officer (CISO) at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to his LinkedIn profile.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services,” Busby said in a LinkedIn post.

Prior to the new appointment, Busby was director of CMS’ Cyber Threat and Security Operations Division, and director of the agency’s Security and Privacy Compliance Division.

Before his tenure at CMS, Busby was executive director of Information Technology Security for the School District of Philadelphia.

Busby is an eight-year U.S. Army veteran who holds a bachelor’s degree in computing and security technologies from Drexel University and a master’s degree in cybersecurity and information security from Capitol Technology University.
