The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is adding four new members to the Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB) established by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2022 to review and assess major cybersecurity events, including former CISA Director Chris Krebs.

In addition to Krebs – who headed CISA from 2018 to 2020 and is now chief intelligence and public policy officer at SentinelOne – CSRB is adding David Luber, who is director of the Cybersecurity Directorate at the National Security Agency.

The board also is adding Jamil Jaffer, who is a venture partner at Paladin Capital Group and Founder and Executive Director of the National Security Institute at George Mason University Scalia Law School, and Katie Nickels, who is senior director of Intelligence Operations at Red Canary.

“I am also very pleased to welcome Jamil, Dave, Katie, and Chris to the Board,” said CISA Director Jen Easterly. “I know their cybersecurity expertise and experience will be instrumental in the continuing evolution of the CSRB as a catalyst for positive change in the cybersecurity ecosystem.”

CISA said that Robert Silvers, DHS Under Secretary for Policy, will continue to chair CSRB, and Heather Adkins, vice president for security engineering at Google, will remain vice chair.

“The Cyber Safety Review Board will continue in its charge to conduct fact finding and develop lessons learned from the most serious cyber incidents,” said Silvers.

Departing CSRB will be: Katie Moussouris, founder and CEO at Luta Security; Chris Novak, managing director at Verizon Threat Research Advisory Center; Tony Sager, senior vice president and chief evangelist at the Center for Internet Security; and Wendi Whitmore, senior vice president, Unit 42, at Palo Alto Networks.

CSRB has issued several major reports since the organization was created, including earlier this year on the Microsoft email breach, and before that on the Lapsus$ hacking group, and the Log4j vulnerability.
