During a webinar today hosted by Federal News Network, Harry Singh, CIO of the Department of Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing, spoke about the bureau’s effort to get its user stakeholders more engaged in the planning phases to modernizing its technology. Automation that is enabled by IT modernization is considered a foundation of the entire bureau, and having stakeholders involved in the initial phases is critical, Singh explained during a panel discussion.

“When you talk IT modernization and automation, IT modernization is something a CIO can drive. And when it comes to automation, that’s really [where] everything relates to process. So, that’s where the user engagement really comes into play,” Singh said. He wants stakeholders to see the cost benefits of updating to new technology and leaving legacy systems behind.

Don Schuerman, Pegasystems’ CTO and Vice President of Product Marketing, also joined the panel discussion and he and Singh touched on how the results of automation help inform the decision-making processes while meeting compliance requirements and regulations.
