The United States Air Force (USAF) is looking for a contractor to provide long-haul communications and system network administration for its Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Squadron Operation Center (SOC) Enterprise, according to a request for proposal (RFP) posted to SAM.gov June 17.

The RFP notes the eight-year, $750 million contract is expected to be awarded in January 2022 by the Air Combat Command Acquisition Management and Integration Center at the Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia.

The RPA-SOC is used to plan squadron-level missions, as well as coordinate airspace, data archival and retrieval, targeting or tasking updates, and threat warnings, according to the project’s performance work statement. The statement also says the RPA-SOC is responsible for “establishing and managing situational awareness,” as well as the “dissemination and support in areas of mission execution, intelligence, weather administration, and communications,” the work statement says.

The chosen contractor will be on the hook for installing, configuring, operating, maintaining, managing, and troubleshooting equipment and networks for the RPA SOC’s terrestrial and satellite long-haul communications and help desk.

The chosen contractors will also have to “provide all personnel, supervision, management, transportation and other services necessary to support, operate, maintain, configure, and repair Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems, equipment, and circuits supporting RPA missions at Continental United States/Outside the Continental United States facilities within established demarcation points,” the RFP states.

The response date on the RFP is July 2. With a run date of eight years, the contract would run until approximately 2030.
