The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) announced Aug. 3 that Margaret McCarthy will join the industry group as its new senior director of government affairs. McCarthy joins ITI after serving as the executive director of Mobile Future, a telecom industry group whose members include AT&T and Verizon. Before joining the private sector, McCarthy worked on Capitol Hill as legislative director for Rep. Doris Matsui, D-Calif., a senior staffer on the House Communications Subcommittee, and legislative assistant to both Sens. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. She has also worked for the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Commerce. “We are thrilled to welcome Margaret to the government affairs team at ITI,” ITI President Jason Oxman said. “Her extensive congressional and administration experience and innovative tech policy expertise will expand our advocacy and provide great value in areas that are key priorities for our members.”
