Google Acquires Fabric, Other Systems

Google announced Wednesday that it acquired Fabric, Twitter’s mobile app developer program; Crashlytics, its crash reporting system; Answers, its mobile app analytics; Digits, an SMS login system; and FastLane, a development automation system. Twitter launched Fabric to enable developers to choose tools to improve their apps. Fabric serves apps that reach 2.5 billion users created by 580,000 developers.

Montana Firearms Maker Gets DoD Contract

The U.S. Department of Defense and the National Armaments Consortium awarded an $11.42 million contract to PROOF Research, a firearms manufacturer in Columbia Falls, Mont. Under the contract, PROOF will develop prototype hybrid-composite muzzle brakes and medium-caliber barrels for future weapons systems. The company specializes in composite-built firearms and defense materials.
