Fred Whiteside

Fred Whiteside currently serves as Program manager for the Department of Labor Data Center Consolidation (DCCI) Program. He previously in various capacities supporting the Federal Cloud Computing Program including Chair, NIST Cloud Computing Security Working Group where he led the development of the NIST Publication “Challenging Security Requirements for USG the Adoption of Cloud Computing” and is also a contributing author to the NIST Special Publication 500-293: US Government Cloud Computing Technology Roadmap (Release 1.0). Fred also served as Co-Chair, ISMC Network and Infrastructure Security Sub-committee and supports the Cloud Computing at the Department of Commerce, Office of the Chief information Officer as Senior Enterprise Architect.
Since 2002 he has served as Manager, Cybersecurity Operations and Critical Infrastructure at the Department of Commerce and Chief, Security Operations Division and Acting Director of the IT Security Program Office and the US Patent and Trademark Office. His extensive experience in Cybersecurity Operations and Incident Response allow him to effectively articulate federal requirements and considerations regarding Cloud migration, and has worked with various agencies in their requirements development migration planning.
