Ms. Alexis Wales, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) alumni since 2009, joined the NCCIC in April 2018 as the Associate Deputy Director for Cyber Threat Detection & Analysis. She manages the day-to-day operations of technical, cyber threat, and risk analysis experts who support network defense and resilience across the (DHS) stakeholder community.

With 15 years’ experience in risk management, federal program management, and providing decision support to executive leadership in the public sector, Ms. Wales is a cybersecurity policy subject matter expert. Her thought leadership on cybersecurity governance and risk management has assisted in developing policy, doctrine, and guidance to advance risk-informed decision making within the federal cybersecurity space. Additionally, her diverse background in research, critical infrastructure, and information technology transformation has ensured multi-billion dollar cyber programs are sustainable.

Ms. Wales has an M.A. in Security Policy Studies from the George Washington University, and a dual B.A. in History and Anthropology from Brandeis University. She has executive leadership and senior acquisition management certificates from the Harvard Kennedy School and Homeland Security Acquisitions Institute and several certifications in program management, contracting, information security and Lean Six Sigma.
