Phillip LaJoie has returned to the public health sector as the newly appointed chief operating officer (COO) for the Market Technology Integration Office at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), according to a post on LinkedIn.
In his new role, LaJoie is responsible for overseeing the integration of market technologies, enhancing digital modernization efforts, and improving electronic health records (EHR) and data-sharing capabilities across the agency.
LaJoie began to perform the duties of COO last month.
LaJoie has 20 plus years of executive-level technical experience in the public and private healthcare sectors including work in electronic health records, data sharing, and digital modernization.
Throughout his career in the public health sector LaJoie has gained a track record for leading and implementing complex projects, including a data-sharing initiative between the Defense Department, Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; deploying the military’s largest medical simulation center in San Diego; and integrating an inpatient EHR platform to over 600 facilities.
LaJoie left public service in 2009 after serving as the chief information officer (CIO) for the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He worked in various roles in the private sector including as vice president of Federal Migrations for Qbase and director of operations for 2bPrecise.
