CDM & Eggs

CDM and Eggs Breakfast – Phase II: May 18, 2016

CDM spent the winter hibernating as FITARA and FedRAMP stood in the spotlight, but with a few recent moves by DHS – its right back in the forefront of agency planning. With all Phase I contracts awarded – and one year away from the 2017 deployment deadline – it is important to look at what has worked so far and what needs to be improved for progress to continue. How are agencies tracking the progress of Phase I initiatives, what needs have not been met, and what additional training or follow up is necessary? With the shift to Phase II underway – focused on credentials and access management to prevent insider threats – what do agencies need in these areas?

What is CDM?

The Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program, CDM, is a Federal cyber security initiative administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the General Services Administration (GSA).  The $2 billion CDM program helps government agencies enhance their continuous diagnostic abilities by alerting network managers of potential cyber risks based on threat level.

CDM improves government network security by prioritizing the worst threats within minutes, delivers near-real time results, and lowers the risk of exploitation of government IT systems and networks.
