Universities Can Apply to Work With New Center of Excellence

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate on March 20 announced $35 million in funding opportunities for a new Center of Excellence for cross-border threat screening and supply chain defense. The purpose of the new COE is to research ways to identify potential biological threats within DHS’s operational environment that could disrupt critical infrastructure supply chains. American universities have until Aug. 4 apply to work with the institution.

Environmental Alternatives Gets $13 Million Contract

The U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center recently awarded a $13 million contract to Environmental Alternatives, located in Swanzey, N.H. Under the contract, the company will provide engineering and technical services to help disassemble, inspect, and clean LM2500 single-shank turbine gas generator assemblies. The work will be carried out in Santee, Calif.
